Or do they fear a backlash from the public if they select a player of colour?
Take this player, for instance. Usman Khawaja. Born in Pakistan, he was brought up and learned all his cricket in Australia. He's as Australian as, say, Andrew Strauss is English i.e. not born in the country he plays for, but in every other way a true blood native. He is a consistent performer for the darling state of the Australian selectors, New South Wales, yet he is continuously ignored at international level. Why?

Nah they're not racist, it's just that the Aussie team is one of the hardest teams to break into. Hussey was almost 30 and had over 10,000 domestic runs to his name before he got his shot in the national team.
Usman averages 47 in domestic cricket, does that make him better than Ponting, Hussey, Clarke, and Kattich who all average between 45-55 in test cricket, or Watson who has been a revalation opening the innings? Whom would he replace?
There are a lot of people, who want to play at international level, not only him.
That's not racism. Rubbish.
There was this portugese guy who played for our test team but got sent home cause he had no place in the team.
They have to pick wisely, very wisely. There are a lot of talent in first-class cricket. Not only him.
When it comes to the Australian selectors we don't currently have any. We do have 3 meatheads that just want the title and watch TV.
Again you seem to have the wrong facts.
