HTML problems

<textarea> HTML problems?

I'm trying to create a new page on tumblr in the Standard Layout with pictures and I want the pictures to be in rows so I can put a textarea box under them with codes in them. When I do a <textarea> code and save it on the "Edit HTML Source" on the page it just disappears. Do you know how I can fix this? Thanks. :) And I'd also appreciate it if you knew how to get everything into rows like that so it's more organized. x
