Can a potentially devastating meteor be too small to detect?
How large would an asteroid to be not to detect?
Other Answers:
yes...it all depends on it's size and proximity to the device sensing it.
A huge devastating meteor could be on a collision course right now and we would have NO way of detecting it...if it's too far away but approaching at a very high speed.

Mother Earth sobs on my shoulder every night worrying about this very thing, but I tell her "You are still so young! 4 billion is this years 2 billion! You look marvelous!"
She lives every day like it is her last, poor thing.
