Need advice is there anything I can do?

Hi need help on something I went to a fundraising event for autism and purchased 6 ballot tickets for ?5 before the event took place and a friend of mine who helped organise it had bought them also and was asked to sell some at his work etc if they were unable to make it to the event they can still buy ballots so they did, so on the night the ballot is being called and there was one BIG main prize to be won just before it was called the woman said you have to be in the room to get this prize! The person who won it was not in the room and my friend was to pick anything up that he won, they would not give it to him as he was unable to make it as he was on holiday so was recalled and happened again with another and another until it was drawn 4 times can they do this? Please note this was NOt stated on the tickets at sale I find this so wrong and unfair
