Is there a story/manga that does this?

I'm looking for a good read that will have a character protect a person or group without them knowing about it. eg. A hooded man kills the zombies that would have otherwise snuck up and killed the group.
You know? Something like that where there's a guy who has a secret about him protecting them without them knowing ; like a guardian angel. Sorry for the lack of details xD
