Got into car accident and the attorney wants me to settle now?

I got into car accident last year, a car backed me up and pinned me against the wall. I was brought immediately to the ER, received 8 surgeries and stayed in the hospital for 3 months. I have damaged my leg, and still receiving treatments (Physical therapy and 2 more surgeries in my knee and artery). I am unable to work, walk and had to stop school (college student). My medical bill is $700,000 and I lost my job due to it.

The person who backed me up doesn't have any properties, and is not wealthy at all. Her insurance can only give me $15,000 (She only has liability). I have an uninsured coverage under my auto insurance and they will give me $35,000.
My attorney said that it's the most I could get from both parties. I can sue the driver and can also possibly win the case, but my attorney's fear is that the driver will file for bankruptcy and have an early retirement (since she's already old). So maybe in the end, I will not get anything from her. He wants me to settle with that money. Basically I will only get $30,00 since the rest of the money will have to go to attorney's fee.

Right now, there's a fight going on between my health insurance and the county hospital if who's going to pay for my medical bills. My attorney told me that my health insurance "looks like" they are going to pay for it and I will not have to pay for anything. I'm afraid that medical bills will come my way after I sign the settlement.


Should I listen to my attorney and take the settlement money that they offer me?

$30,000 is not worth it considering that I have permanent injury and permanent scarring (this is a big issue especially if you're a woman in your 20s). I also lost my job and can't continue going to school due to trouble walking. I still go to therapy and will have surgeries. I am not sure if the money that he wants me to settle with also includes my lost wages. My attorney wants me to settle now, but I am not sure if I should. If I don't want to settle, what will be the next step for me?

Pls pls give your insights to this issue. I am really frustrated right now because I already have the settlement paper and just need to sign to turn it to him this week.
