Can you play Bach No. 1 on the double bass?

I need a chalange because I am bored with the songs I get from my college. I was just wondering if it is possible and how to play it.

Yes Bass players, perform the cello suites all the time. About 10 years ago Edgar Meyer released a recording of the complete bach cello suites performed on bass. Rabbath has also recorded some of the suites. Some editions play it at the same pitch level as a cellists, others transpose to make the fingerings more practical. Though these days the trend is to play them at cello pitch instead of transposing.
