Wedding planning-table seating help

Wedding planning-table seating help? Wedding planning-table seating help?

Ok. My fiance and i are in the early stages of wedding planning. We have 140 people on the guest list. We are assuming everyone is coming, and the 140 doesnt include the bridal party, as we have our own table. For the guests, we are trying to decide between round and square/rectangle tables. If we had round tables, how big would these need to be (width in feet) and how many people could we seat at each table, and how many tables would we need? And same questions for the rectangle/square tables. We want the minimum amount of tables possible, and also need room for gift table, serving tables, etc

Other Answers:

An 8 foot round can comfortably seat 8. In certain circumstances, we used to seat 10 people at an 8 foot round, but it looked incredibly cramped and uncomfortable... I can't imagine getting more than 10 at an 8' round. That would mean you'd need about 18 tables... or 17 if you wanted a few to have 9 people at them. I like round tables because they offer more opportunity for discussion amongst the guests... But obviously you have to meet your wedding's practical needs before you can meet social needs.

Retangles: 6 or 8 feet long and 18, 24, or 30 wide.

Rounds are usually 8 feet and seat 10 people each. You can put 10 at an 8 foot rectangle, but it's cramped. I like rounds b/c ladies can put their bags in the middle instead of on the floor.

So, you'd want 14 rounds set out like the dots on a 5 domino. IMO. That's how we had it for 200 people and it worked great, leaving room for gift table, DJ And wine/beer bar.

Congratulations!
