How to become a realtor

How to become a realtor? How to become a realtor?

I live in Louisianna and was wondering what you have to do to become a realtor? I am a college student and mother and want to find something to do in my spare time and thought this would be a good idea, depending on how hard it was to get into and if it is a job that you can have part time. I just really need a point in the right direction.

You have to work as a real estate agent for a Realtor for 3 years first. And what Gary B above said is absolutely true

It is relatively easy to get into the realtor game. You need several hours of Real Estate classes, either online hours or a class with an instructor. Then you contact a real estate broker to sponsor your application. You can only be paid by a licensed broker, so you have to work for one after you get your real estate license.
The strange part of this all is that taking the classes will teach you all you need to know about being a real estate agent .
After you take all your hours required, you go to Baton Rouge and take two tests, one on US real estate law and one on Louisiana real estate. You must pass both tests and then you get a real estate license. To be a realtor, you must take additional ethics classes, but technically you can sell real estate with only a real estate license. However, you must be paid by a broker, so you must work for them.
hope this helps.
Here is a link to one school of real estate, but there are other online schools available.

PRE-LICENSING REQUIREMENTS FOR SALESPERSONS

APPLICANTS FOR A SALESPERSON LICENSE MUST:

be at least 18 years of age;

have obtained a high school diploma or equivalency certificate (GED);

show proof of successful completion of ninety (90) hours of real estate education in courses approved by the LREC;

comply with all application procedures required by the LREC;

pass the real estate salesperson licensing examination; and

be sponsored by a licensed real estate broker, if Active license is granted and provide proof of errors and omissions insurance prior to license issuance.

Many realtors provide classes for schooling in real estate. They are not time consuming for many months. Call a few and find out which ones have the classes. At the end you will be given tests and if you pass you will get your realtors license. good luck bettyk
