Pre-second world war when Bugattis were built by the Bugatti factory in Alsace in France - they were never mass produced. In fact they were very backward in that respect even for the era and used a lot of hand labour (cheap at the time) . Modern ones - the brand name was bought by Volkswagen and used for a series of "supercars" which are definitely not mass produced
