No, it's just a little perk that makes you able to say your better then other people who are just regular rank. Prestige mode has like 10 levels or something, and remember it deletes all of your stuff, so all the weapons you have unlocked will be gone and it will be like starting on the private rank again.
no....but it lets you do all the challenges again and if you complete all the challenges for a gun class (i.e assault rifles) you'll get every weapon of that class as gold ( gold m16a4, golden g3...etc)...thats the only good thing about prestige...no extras aside from gold weapons if you complete all the challenges for a weapon class

No the only thing that changes is your symbol, but it is kind of cool. The medals for prestige mode are made after real medals for the army and navy. Like after completing prestige mode 9 your symbol is the navy cross. Prestige basically makes you start from scratch, no challenges completed and only basic weapons, so you have to level up and unlock everything again.
