Anyone know of Beacon, NY?does anyone live there or has been there i need to know if the area is an okay area if you get what im saying! i was mugged once and everytime i go to NY i wanna know if the area is ok so someone please let me know!

Sure it's OK, why not? If you got mugged in Phoenix, you wouldn't go to Tuscon? And the area can't be beat. Across the Hudson to Woodstock or New Paltz. Newburg has a few bad areas.
just so you know, the city is not the worst. buffalo, followed by newburgh. those are the worst. they are the two most dangerous cities in nys. i would never walk around newburgh alone. (and i live 8 hours from buffalo, so i dont see that ever happening) but i would walk around the city anytime. beacon is across the river from newburgh. (Hamilton Fish Newburgh Beacon Bridge is the name of the bridge that connects them)
It's just like any other small city. Yeah, there are problems, but as long as you use some kind of common sense and be street smart, it will be fine. You need to learn what areas to avoid and what areas are okay.
Beacon is not in New York City. I think it's a town about an hour away in Dutchess county.
