AXIAM CARS UK WHAT ON EARTH IS GOING ON THERE

AXIAM CARS (UK). WHAT ON EARTH IS GOING ON THERE? AXIAM CARS (UK). WHAT ON EARTH IS GOING ON THERE?

It almost seems like a car designed by The Nutty Professor.

It has a maximum speed of 28mph; no kidding, 28mph. But it costs eleven grand.

The main advertising claim seems to be that it can be driven by a 16 year old on a moped licence.

Pardon me if I've got this wrong but I thought that the majority of 16 year olds learn their basic driving skills ON a moped. Which doesn't cost ?11,000

And sixteen year olds make up only a minute sector of the British motoring market, even if their parents have eleven grand to spare on a whimsical little car like this.

And when you go to the Axiam website to find out more about this peculiar proposition, there is no information at all.

Or is anyone out there better informed about this car than me?

Hi Cam
yes this little car being just 600 cc is a replacement for the reliant three wheel robin.
made in france and has the DAF variomatic belt automatic transmission a system which uses a belt between two variable pulleys which change the gear ratio. so yes the top speed may well be restricted to a low speed.
i know of at least one old boy who has one and has several problems with it the biggest being the dealer is some 60 miles away which means it needs to taken there when it goes wrong.
so they have few dealers here in the united kingdom.
it is economical on fuel about 60 MPG.
this is a low road tax car as well made of glass-fibre which the body panels never fit together very well.
gaps in the panels and small inside a four seater which can only really take two adults and two children. well yes at 11k it is expensive but it can be driven on a motorcycle licence.
however the DAF 66 built by both Volvo and DAF can leave a porsche at the traffic lights due to the accelaration that this little 1600 cc car could achieve.
