Fund managers and traders

Fund managers and traders................? Fund managers and traders................?

Both primarily play the same role, and from what I know, both use FA and TA.

However i gather the trader uses a lot more TA and the fund manager uses a lot more FA, and has a bunch of analysts helping him.

Why aren't traders as highly regarded or as famous as fund managers?
You get the warren buffets, george soros' etc
But how is it there are no traders that have the same level of acclaim?

Based on a few books on trading that i've read, if they weren't lying, then some traders have achieved triple-digit ROIs consistently year-in, year-out for periods over a decade.

There are over 1,000 people on the world billionaire's list. If you made it onto that list, you'd get noticed. But side from that, making money isn't enough to get noticed. You have to have a story to tell too - a story that makes people care.

Also, when Warren Buffet says he made X billion in Y years, people believe him. But when a trader sitting his basement says he made 200% last month, it's hard to tell if that's accurate or not.

And then there's the problem that people who make a living at 20% yearly don't want to know that there are people making 300%, and they don't even think it's possible.

Fund managers get all the credit because they are responsible for the fund and its all about PR and promoting the fund, advertising and raising more money for the fund. Its not necessarily about the individual.
