Changing guitar pickups? Changing guitar pickups?

im thinking about getting a gibson les paul faded double cutaway :

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Gibson-Les-P...

and i was planning to switch out the pickups later one so:

a.) can i use any type of pickups, or am i limited by the guitar?
b.)can i use two different brands of pickups e.x. a seymour duncan and a gibson pick up?
c.)if i am limited by the guitar, any suggestions on a different guitar thats about the same price

thanks

Other Answers:

a) Not any kind. You cannot use single coils since humbuckers are already installed in the guitar when you buy it, and humbuckers are twice the size of single coil pickups. So basically, you can only use humbuckers.

b) Yes, you can use different brands.

c) You're not horribly limited. Single-coil pickups are really only useful for that fat, bluesy, Hendrix/SRV-style punch to your sound, and if you want that, a Les Paul is the wrong guitar for you. Go with a Strat or a Telecaster if you play a lot of blues and classic rock. Then again, if you play metal, Les Pauls are great, but get better pickups like DiMarzios, Seymour Duncans, or, better yet, EMG active humbuckers.
